Loungewear used to just mean an old t-shirt and sweatpants, but as more women are working at home and styling has progressed, there are some fantastic options for clothing that are economic, extremely comfortable and wearable all over the home, good for running off to do some quick grocery shopping or complete your yoga routine.
Sweatpants, sweatshirts and hoodies have been a stable for generations. Great to sleep in, exercise (maybe that was what they were made for?) and fashionable to go to the mall or casual lunch. While past generations had to make do with cotton or polyester, companies such as Under Armor are using manmade threads and materials that absorb heat, wick away sweat and can keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Yoga wear is a relatively new fashion category that many of the big name retailers may still not have. If you go to a large sporting goods store with a large clothes section like most Sports Chalet or Sports Authority, you should be able to find great pants, shorts, tops and jackets. These are made of soft, flexible material that allows you to move and breathe. If you are comfortable in tights, many outfits use tights as a base since yoga practioners do a lot of leg stretching and movements.
Pajamas are great for getting up in the morning, relaxing at night, and spending a lazy Saturday in all day. The traditional pants and button down tops are still popular, and who can resist favorite cartoon characters, hobbies, sports teams or some great line or floral designs. There are generally lighter pajamas best for summer and heavier materials used for winter. Even the lighter summer pajamas can be further enhanced by high quality bathrobes, great for use just as you wake up and might be colder, than could be discarded after breakfast or once the day becomes a little warmer. Bath robes also come in a wide variety of materials including cotton and terrycloth. Satin and silk are great for warmer climates and can add a fashionable touch. Heavy cotton and polyester make the hooded bathrobe into a blanket-like accessory that is great for staying warm without turning on the heater.
